The ENTS Program is a professional, non-standard program. The tuition rate applies to both domestic and international students.
The tuition rate is currently set $1037.00 per credit. The ENTS program requires completion of 30 credits. Full-time students typically complete the program in 4 semesters. Students are considered full-time when registered for 9 credits (3 courses). The typical course sequences outlines sample programs of study for ENTS students.
Mandatory fees are set by the University and cover student expenses and services ranging from campus shuttles, facilities, activities, and the student union. Mandatory fees are charged per semester based on a student's credit hour registration. For the 2017-2018 academic year, estimated mandatory fees are as follows:
- Full-Time Status (9 or more credits): $760.22
- Part-Time Status (1-8 credits): $422.71
Living Expenses, Insurance, and Books
When calculating the total cost of attendance, you will want to consider living expenses in addition to tuition and fees. Living expenses include costs such as rent, meals, transportation, etc. The cost of rent in the Washington DC Metro/College Park area can vary. The Office of Off-Campus Housing Services provides information about budget planning, conducting a housing search, safety and security, and much more. While it is not mandatory that graduate students have health insurance, but in the event of an emergency, insurance is strongly recommended. Students can purchase their own health insurance or take advantage of the Student Health Insurance Plan as a voluntary student. You will also want to plan for academic costs such as books.
Proof of liquid finances to cover one year's worth of estimated expenses (tuition, fees, books, insurance, and living expenses) is required by ISSS to be issued an immigration document (I-20/DS-2019). Documentation regarding financials will be required only by those international students requiring immigration documents. Admitted students will receive communication from ISSS following their admission decision regarding how to submit this documentation. ISSS provides the Estimated Cost of Attendance document. Students requesting an immigration document from UMD must show liquid finances to cover the total cost for ENTS.
